Sunrise Powerlink -- SEMPRA/San Diego Gas & Electric
The Sierra Club has a great synopsis on the Sunrise Powerlink. Go to http://sdsmartenergy.org/sunrisepowerlink.shtml for background information. In general, San Diego Gas & Electric wants to build a 150-mile transmission line through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, other nature preserves, and rural communities. The reason for this massive dirty energy project is to bring cheap and unregulated energy from their power plants in Mexico and take it through San Diego County to provide energy to Los Angeles.
The Energy and Nature site has information about how to keep informed about the Sunrise Powerlink project. Go to http://kdfuller.blogspot.com/.
Our last (of many) letters opposing this project can be found here.
